Notes and Quotes:
This was an exciting day for the 16s Blue, as we finally made it into the Gold Division!!!!! Unfortunately, I only got to be with the girls the first match of the day, and watch a little bit of the first match of bracket play. I got very sick and had to have my husband drive to Beaverton to pick me up. So I gave everything to Jim Oldis, my assistant, and he did a great job. Even though I wasn't there to see everything, I talked to Jim, and he wanted me to make sure and give the whole team credit as everybody played really well. It was a total team effort. He did say that Rachel Lassen played very aggressive ball at the net - great job Rachel! And Annie Forman stepped up when Laura Jenson had to sit a game with sore knees. By the way, I hear Laura played awesome defense, as did Mikah Clancy and Sara Peterson. Sara also served well, along with Kari Sarysz. Ashley Bergeson and Amy Higginson did a great job setting up the offense, and Jamie Richardson played strong at the net, hitting and blocking. I wish I could have been there to see the girls when they made it into Gold. I just want to say how very proud I am of all of you, and a special thanks to Jim for saving me! GREAT JOB GIRLS! I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT!

Notes and Quotes:
The 16's Blue had a very long but great weekend at the ASICS Invite this past weekend. We had a little miscommunication about our first match in the morning, as we were scheduled to officiate but then everything got changed at the last minute and we ended up playing! I had to go with the 1st 6 girls that walked in the door, as I told the girls they didn't have to be there until 7:50. But we had no problem handling Webfoot White, even with people playing positions they've never played before. In fact, I think they had a lot of fun.

Annie Forman did an awesome job passing, and our Libero Mikah Clancy did an awesome job hustling and playing balls up in the back-row all day. Our setters Ashley Aasen, Amy Higginson, and Ashley Bergeson did wonderful, and our two middles Jamie Richards and Rachel Lassen were very strong at the net. Sara Peterson got a chance to play front row and did a incredible job! I am looking forward to getting her some more playing time as outside hitter. Kari Sarysz had an awesome weekend at outside hitter - her timing is really coming on. Laura Jensen played really well at the net, and was very consistent in serving.

We had a great weekend, and I am thrilled with the way the girls came together as a team. We are looking forward to the Jamboree coming up this weekend in Yakima. GREAT JOB GIRLS!!!!!!

Notes and Quotes:
Even though we didn't end up in the Gold Division like we wanted to, the 16s Blue team put out a strong showing this weekend. We ended up 1st in our morning pool, but were tripped up by Nike Northwest Juniors in our first game in the afternoon bracket. We came back and defeated Salem for the second time that day to claim 3rd place overall in Silver. That was a sweet win, as they beat us at our Qualifier earlier in Estacada.

Jamie Richards, Rachel Lassen, Laura Jensen, Annie Forman, and Ashley Aasen all had a strong day at the net for us, for a combined 68 kills. Sara Peterson did a great job passing as well as serving, and Kari Sarysz also served well. We are looking forward to the next 3 practices to get ready for the Presidents Day Tournament in Seattle.

This is a very enjoyable group of girls, they are very coachable and eager to learn, and Jim and I are having a great time.

Notes and Quotes:
What an exciting day the the 16's Blue had yesterday at the J & J Classic! Topped off with a play against Nike Power that could have easily made ESPN's play of the day.

We started off the day kind of slow, as we had a hard time moving our feet in our morning pool, but we showed up to play in the afternoon bracket beating Nike Power, and just barely losing to Nike Air Elite. We had a serve receive breakdown and missed some crucial serves, but I am very proud of the way these girls played. In fact, I had a parent from another Cowlitz team comment on how he wished their team played with as much heart as our girls do. They DO NOT GIVE UP! And I think that is one of the things that I love best about this group of girls. Even though I know it was a tough loss against the Air Elite team, it was an awesome match, and we'll get our chance against them again.

I can't say enough about the play of Amy Higginson - she was all over the court all day, and she improves every time I watch her play. She takes in everything I tell her and ask of her, and goes out and gives it her all - great job Amy!! Laura Jensen did a great job hitting - she saw the court really well, and was smart at the net. Jamie Richards also had great day all-around with 20 kills, 8 stuffs and 10 ace serves. Jamie, Amy and Ashley Aasen were the three involved in the ESPN play of the day. I couldn't even begin to explain it, but for those of you who were there, you know what I'm referring to!! Rachel Lassen had 15 kills and 5 stuffs, and Annie Forman, Kari Sarysz, and Mikah Clancy did a great job passing. Sara Peterson had some great hits from the back row, and Ashley Bergeson did an awesome job in the front row. She is finally starting to show her power with that south-paw of hers.

Great Job Girls!!!!!

Notes and Quotes:
I think the girls had a tough time waking up for the morning pool, as they weren't as sharp as they were the first tournament. WSVA was tall and a tough match in the morning pool; we stayed right with them in the second game, but came up a little short. We had a very slow start in the afternoon pool as well, losing against Salem, but came back and won against West Valley, and finished strong against Webfoot, which was the best we played all day.

Ashley Aasen did a great job setting, and Ashley Bergeson did a great job at the net for us this weekend. Jamie Richards did an awesome job serving and was our top hitter, and Annie Forman and Kari Sarysz also did a good job at the net. Sara Peterson was our top passer. We are looking forward to the next 3 practices before our next tournament, as there are things we need to work on, but I was really proud of the way the girls came back and finished hard in our last match.

Notes and Quotes:
We had such an awesome day, and I am very proud of the way these girls played. They showed a lot of heart, especially in the match against Cowlitz Black, where as you can see, we only came up short by 5 pts. I was completely thrilled with our level of play today; our passing was phenomenal! Our back row specialists Sara Peterson and Mikah Clancy played consistent all day long, and Sara was also our most consistent server. Ashley Aasen and Amy Higginson did an awesome job at setting today; Ashley had 30 assists, played well at the net, and also did an awesome job on defense. Jamie Richards, who plays middle, hit the heck out of the ball, she did a great job of seeing the court, and put the ball where the other team wasn't! She had 30 kills, and 8 stuff blocks. Rachel Lassen, our other middle, also played well, with 15 kills, and 7 stuff blocks. And Laura Jensen showed great leadership out on the court; she played well all around and had 15 kills.
