Notes
and Quotes:
The girls did well this weekend. We
started off a little slow but seemed to
wake up a bit after a while. Don't think
we played our best this weekend, but
when we do we will surprise teams.
This
was a weekend of accomplishments - a day
that some players made their first
serves over the net in a game; or their
first playable pass in a game. Some
great accomplishments. We also saw some
great team work.

Notes
and Quotes:
We ended up in 14th place out of 16
teams. We were ranked 16th so we
finished higher than originally ranked.
I feel that overall, we played better
than the scores show. I'm proud of the
overall success the girls had this
weekend. We came back from behind this
weekend and won. Not giving up until the
last point - what a difference. We
played to win.

Notes
and Quotes:
The team did well with the new line-up.
We are now doing a 6-2 and soon will be
adding a modified rotational defense. So
with the change just in the last week, I
think the entire team caught on fast.
We
improved throughout the day on our
passing, but struggled, I think, on our
serving at the end of the day. So
overall, I see the team doing great in
the future with minor adjustments.
Anastasia
Messmore was great this weekend - she
has really come around. She knows her
rotation always !!! Which is a great
accomplishment with the change to a 6-2.
This weekend, she made passes towards
the target, giving her teammates a
chance to hit. Great Job Anastasia !!!
Shantelle
Savage - I think this girl has figured
out that without passing, she can't hit.
Passing is what she can do. She has made
a great improvement in her serving -
that also has helped in her down-balls.
It was great to see her smile this
weekend. Nice work Shantelle !!!
Daisy
Martin was a little under the weather
this week and you wouldn't have known
it. I just noticed it at the end of the
day. She also has improved in her
passing, but what I noticed this weekend
is that she is playing with the
knowledge of the court. She isn't
uncertain of the boundaries - whether
the ball is in or out. It is interesting
to see her getting court smarts. Hurray
Daisy !!!
Katie
Sarysz has improved seven fold in her
passing - she is getting the ball to the
target and getting the idea of always
communicating with her teammates.
Serving this weekend made a big
difference to winning or losing. When
Katie was on with her serving, we
usually won. Awesome Katie !!!!
We
will be in the Bronze division again.
But overall, the girls played well with
the teams that are working on pass, set
and hit. They are learning the fun of
the game and that it isn't always about
the score.
Nice
work again ladies.

Notes
and Quotes:
I have seen great improvement from all
the players since I first started with
them just a month ago. They are
improving every tournament. Scores may
not show the win but they have won by
getting three hits - one of our goals.
This
tournament I could name every player for
succeeding in knowing our rotation,
serving it over the net more than once,
getting a perfect pass, talking
volleyball, and making an effort no
matter the outcome. These 11 girls are
on the right road to successfully being
outstanding volleyball players.
Some
Highlights Today:
Hayley
Gorton made five consecutive serves
over, giving her the confidence that she
can serve a mean short serve. They are
tough to pass.
Kiana
Mawae learned what consistency can mean
to her teammates: serving many in
a row in all the matches, and giving the
opponents some work.
Chelsea
Williams also did well in serving and
became a go-to person when someone else
was struggling. She served 4 consecutive
serves.
Our
passing as a whole has improved -
getting it to the target has made it
more fun for us to hit. We are working
on downballs, but just the same kills.
It made for some great excitement seeing
them even get to the third hit.
We
as a coaching staff are impressed with
their improvement in all the skills. Our
emphasis right now is getting three
contacts: pass, set, hit. Today
was a success if we measure our
accomplishment against what I have seen
as the teams GOALS. We passed, set &
hit today. Great work ladies. We are on
the right road.
