Yakima Housing Confirmation!
If you have reserved a room at the Clarion Hotel in Yakima through the Club, it is now time to confirm your room with your credit card by calling 1-509-576-4932. Raffle Update!

If you are looking for a way to earn money for Club dues, we have found that personally soliciting family or the business community for donations is very effective, and rewarding for those helping you out. Anyone who sponsors an athlete will receive a receipt (tax-deductible) and certificate of recognition, along with mention in our media guide. And for businesses, there is the added incentive of a business card-size ad in the media guide for a $100 donation, while amounts up to $250 receive a half-page, and $500 will garner a full-page ad.

You can use the following Word document as a template to create your own letter for fundraising. And if you need Cowlitz letterhead, please contact your team coach.

Admission Fee
Please be aware that an admission fee will now be charged at the door for all Cowlitz-hosted tournaments. This has come about due to the rising cost of gym use, including custodial fees. To offset this added expense, the following fee structure has been implemented ...

Adults : $3
Seniors / Children : $2
Children under 7 years of age : Free
Players & Coaches : Free

The admission fee guarantees entry for the entire day at all tournament gym sites.

An Opportunity to Help
A few parents that have already sent in $500 have volunteered to donate the $15 discount to players that were affected by the recent flood/storms. We would like to offer other parents that have sent in the full $500 the opportunity to donate the $15 discount they should have received to flood/storm relief for Cowlitz players and families affected by the local storms. REMINDER : Payments are due !!!

NOTICE : 12-U Division Payments
There has been some confusion about the 12-U Division payment schedule. If you sent in payments of $340 or $360 instead of the required $375, please send in the extra $15 or $35 as soon as possible. The $375 amount already includes a discount for early payment-in-full.

Early Payment Deduction
This is a reminder that a $15 deduction is available to those players on non-travel teams who make the entire fee payment up-front. Due to miscommunication, this was not made as clear as it should have been; therefore, anyone who did not know about this deduction, and would like to qualify, may submit a remaining (second) fee payment of $235 by December 15. Otherwise, the remaining payment of $250 is still due by January 5. For any questions about payments, please contact Erik Guttormsen at eguttormsen@comcast.net

Letters have been mailed!
Letters for all age divisions will be put into the mail on Monday, November 26. You can expect to receive your letter sometime this week, but keep in mind that the Thanksgiving holiday may delay that a day or two. Please remember that you must call your coach immediately if you plan on playing this season.

7th and 8th Grade Call Backs!
Congratulations! ALL of the 7th & 8th Grade athletes who participated in the Wednesday night tryouts are invited to return for the Sunday, November 18 tournament. On-line Registration!!!
New this year, the on-line registration process has been made easier. You will only need to provide us a copy of the e-mail confirmation. This paper is a confirmation that you have successfully registered on-line and that your on-line signature has been accepted. Please note that a parent or guardian will need to register their child and that they will be asked to enter their driver’s license number as part of the on-line signature process. This new process will reduce the paperwork/signatures greatly this year!

Prior to the informational meeting, please register online at www.columbiaempirevb.com. Make sure you select Cowlitz Volleyball Club.

Please bring a copy of the registration confirmation/on-line signature verification to the Informational Meeting (you'll receive this via e-mail after you have successfully registered on-line.) Be prepared to pay the $20 tryout fee at the Informational Meeting.

You are required to have proof of registration through Columbia Empire Volleyball and pay the $20 tryout fee to Cowlitz Volleyball Club in order to tryout.

Confirmed ... Picture Night is Cancelled!
Bad weather = no more Picture Night this week. All local school districts have closed, so Wednesday's Picture Night (January 17) has been cancelled. All scheduled practices for Wednesday have been cancelled as well. Tentatively, the next scheduled Picture Night will be January 24, but please check back again for confirmation of this.

Unfortunately, the weather has not been cooperating, so Wednesday's Picture Night (January 17) may get cancelled. For the final word on this, please remain in contact with your team coach. Bill Marshall will be notifying each coach by 12:00 noon at the latest. We apologize for the inconvenience!

NEW! 16 Black Participation Requirements
The Cowlitz Volleyball Club has changed it's participation requirements for the 16's Black team as follows:

Effective for the 2006-07 Season, the 16's Black team will not be requiring athletes to participate in the Reno Festival event in late June. In place of that tournament, the team will participate in two national tournaments, (Denver Crossroads, and one other to be decided), and will conclude their season with the Emerald City Classic tournament in May of 2007 at the University of Washington.

Free Recruiting Clinic !!!
To assist student athletes with the recruiting process, a clinic is being held on Monday, February 13 at 7:00 pm in the Monticello MS cafeteria. This clinic is free of charge, and open to athletes of any sport. For details, please contact Bill Marshall at 360-636-SLAM.

Sponsor Information Request
If you have sponsored the Club or individual players: In order for you to receive a receipt from the Club, we need those players or coaches who turned in those payments to send an e-mail to Erik Guttormsen stating sponsor name, sponsored player (or club use, jerseys, team, general, etc.), and amount, as well as who the receipt needs to be sent or given to, either as an address or coach's name. Technical difficulties have prevented us from being sure that we have everyone's information, and we would prefer not to leave any sponsors out that may need receipts.

RE: Sponsor Ads in Media Guide
Today is the 25th. You have until today to get ads and payments for those ads into Erik and Char for the media guide. Remember coaches, it's not to late to ask for sponsorships for the club. Every little bit helps. Sponsorship money that is collected after today's deadline is still appreciated, and will receive recognition on the website and in next year's guide, so don't be afraid to ask how you can help the club.

Players or coaches with individual or team sponsors need to contact Erik Guttormsen via email to verify payment and ensure that ads are ready for the media guide. Payment and ads are due before January 25th, and Erik has Power League the weekend before, so please don't wait until the last minute to submit requests and/or questions. Don't assume your ad is set, and please send an email to verify.

Payment Reminder
First payments and ASICS Vegas deposits for CVC were due December 5th. If you have not paid, please contact your coach and Shannon Hail or Erik Guttormsen, as your payment is past-due. And remember, payments for January are due at the end of next week. Non-payment will restrict playing time, and tournaments start this weekend, so please get your payments in ASAP.

2006 CEVA Member Registration
If you have been placed on a Cowlitz team, you must register as a member of the Columbia Empire Volleyball Association (CEVA). This will be done on-line this season. Please click on the link below and follow the instructions on the page ...

Please note that you do NOT need to pay membership fees to CEVA; this is already included in your Club dues.

When you are finished, you should have printed out three forms: 1) Membership Verification, 2) Waiver and Code of Conduct, and 3) Medical Release. Make sure that you have signed the last two forms, and deliver all three forms to your coach during practice.

Portland Pilots Volleyball Camp Raffle
The Cowlitz 14 Blue team is raffling two separate sessions (2 prizes) to the U of Portland Pilots Volleyball Camp.  These are All Skill Level Camps, Ages 12-18, with Session 1 on July 18-21, and Session 2 on July 26-28.
