Inspiration Award
"For
the first time this year we will be presenting a very
special award in memory of Candis L. Carter, an
inspiring 17-year old libero from Woodland, Washington who
participated in past Emerald City Classic tournaments for
her Cowlitz Volleyball Club teams. Candis was tragically
lost last summer as the result of an automobile accident
with other teens after a night of partying. Candis played
with such a fire and intensity that she inspired anyone
who was fortunate enough to see her play, including her
opponents. Candis represented everything we love about
volleyball. We hope that our Candis Carter Inspiration
Award will help keep her memory alive within our
tournament for years to come. There will be one recipient
of the Candis Carter Inspiration Award for each age group.
3 players will be selected from over 2,000 participants. A
presentation will be a part of our Memorial Day Ceremony
on Monday morning at 7:45am at Dempsey Indoor."
